In October, Mr. Lavoie's Social 9 class's garden project is starting to grow!
The Comparative Civilizations 12 presented Ancient Egypt: Raiders of the Tombs projects on October 30th to invited JH students. Our interactive gallery offered more that information. It contained sounds, tastes, fragrances, and historical characters of Egypt. Lots of fun!!

Its been a very busy September for JH's Social Studies department!
In September, Mr. Lavoie's students planted basil, cilantro, chamomile and parsley. Let's see what we can grow together! They also created design the green the school grounds at the back of the school.
Mr. Eckert is currently in the second year of a Social Studies reflective blog pilot project. Each student in his Social Studies 10 classes has created their own blog (basic website) where they will explore essential questions from the course. They write one blog post per week.
Each post is a minimum of 3 paragraphs and contains at least one link to an outside source website as well as at least one image. Students are also responsible for reading and commenting on each other’s posts. A list of student blog addresses can be accessed at www.mistereckert.com. Mr Aikenhead's Socials 11 class is continuing to use their ipads to find information using technology, and present that information in a variety of creative ways. The students read their e-textbook on the device, then use imovie, puppetpals, powerpoint, and a variety of other apps to demonstrate knowledge.
Mr. Aikenhead's History 12 class will be attending the Holocaust Symposium at the bell centre on November 20th.
Mr. Aikenhead's Law 12 class will be soon viewing how our Justice System works first hand when they visit the Vancouver Criminal Court on Main St. and observe trials.
